Introduction
Whilst there are many different uses for a website there is only one real purpose: to disseminate information.
Through the use of web applications, it has become possible to not only dynamically display information, but also capture and collate that data as well.
There are numerous different ways that we at Forgecom can harness our expertise to help you collect and dispense the information vital to your business.
Below we have provided examples some of the many different types of web application that we have built to make our clients' lives easier. Click on the links to learn more about each one and to visit the example site.
Application Examples
Content Management - not just the preserve of large, data intensive sites,
content management systems are a must for any site administrator who needs direct
control over their site and its contents.
The South West Coast Path site benefits from integrated google mapping to seach for walks, and was a runner up
in the Oldie Travel Awards for 2009.

Multilanguage Content Management and Mapping
This application is being built for a coalition of local government and tourism agencies,
and includes a full multi-language content management system, so that the client
can promote Cornwall and Devon tourism to the overseas market.
Included in the user experience is a custom built mapping facility, that allows users to search for accommodation,
attractions, events etc by region and have results plotted on a zoomable, panable map of the South West.

Catalogue with secure online payment system - allowing a specialist 3rd party
to clear credit card transactions in real-time can greatly reduce the amount of admin
required to fulfil an order. With the recent introduction of new technology by the
banks, it is also an excellent way to prevent credit card fraud.

Catalogue with database synchronisation - one of the common problems we encounter
is the maintenance of two databases. A mail order business, for example, might have
one product / order / customer database offline in the office, and another online
serving their website. Keeping the two synchronised with the latest products and availability
is time-consuming. We can make life easier with a range of options to keep your databases
up-to-date.

Business-to-Business (B2B) - B2B applications currently make up the largest
growth sector of the web application market and are an excellent tool to improve the
interface between you and your clients or suppliers.

Intranet - an Intranet is basically a miniature Internet running in a closed
environment. An Intranet can serve a single department, company, group of companies
or any other group that requires a closed method of communication. With the correct
planning and design it can be an extremely powerful and flexible tool.
